Ways Int Banner 1

Since our beginnings Sisters of St. Joseph have responded to the needs of the times.  In 1650, six women living in the city of LePuy, France banded together to care for their neighbors who were poor and the sick.  To reflect on their experiences of finding God in their ministry and prayer, they gathered together to share their hearts, and to reflect on the "state of the house," or community.  Today Sisters continue to develop this rich tradition--serving and sharing their experiences of God.

Among the areas in which Sisters of St. Joseph serve today are spirituality, education, health care, social service, creative arts and advocacy.  Sisters minister as spiritual directors, retreat leaders, teachers, artists, or activists. They  work in clinics, schools, colleges, or offices. Their ministry as well as their prayer leads them to discover how they are responding to the needs of God's people and the promptings of the Spirit.  Click here to learn more about our ministries.

Whatever their ministry, Sisters strive to live God's great love. The vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience challenge Sisters to live simply, love freely, and listen attentively in and among their communities of Sisters, Consociates, family, friends, neighbors, and Earth.
