Born on Christmas Day in Fremont, Nebraska, died St. Paul, Minnesota, April 22, 2009.
Preceded in death by parents, Dallas Bert and Laura May Cawley Garfield, 2 brothers, Dallas Bert, Jr. and LeRoy Garfield, and sister Geraldine Adams.
Survived by husband Rodney L. Olsen, children John (Laurie) Kruse and Janet Kruse; grandchildren, Nick and Hannah Kruse and Jonathan Kretman; stepdaughters Rebecca Olsen, Erica Joelsen, Laura (Mitch) Donner, and Christina (Mickey) Morgan and their children Alex Smieja, Evan, Nathan, Cassandra, Travis and Kyle Donner, and Connor Morgan.
Laurie loved life and laughter. She also loved to travel, play bridge, being with her wonderful family and political discussions. Her passion for peace with social justice led her to become a consociate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She was a peace activist, member of Every Church a Peace Church, a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, and a volunteer and board member of Peace House.
